Having ‘refreshed’ some aspects of the club for a post lockdown “relaunch”, we have also tweaked the club kit to enable greater uniformity, whilst remaining distinctive and providing flexibility for personal choice.
So Good You’d Think It Was Stolen.
For those who can remember as far back as 2014, we’ve actually had 4 variations of the club kit.
The original “kalas” kit came in two slightly different flavours, reflecting changes in sponsors, but essentially stayed true to the Walton-on-Thames colour scheme of blue and orange!
It was distinctive and fulfilled it’s brief, even being ridden to a number of UCI qualifying times in the Tour of Cambridge. There was no mistaking Walton Velo riders amongst the horde of 10,000 riders.
Unfortunately meeting increased requirements for order volumes proved to be a challenge and led to delays in new members receiving their coveted kit, leading to a search for a new supplier.
Thankfully Stolen Goat stepped into the void and have supplied a redesigned club jersey since 2017, starting with a special Walton Velo “le tour” jersey, featuring the famed le coq sportif. This became the basis for the current jersey design, featuring a clean design and bold colour blocks.
The jersey is central to the club kit, but many riders want some flexibility when it comes to more “personal” garments, such as shorts and gloves. So we have decided to focus on creating that essential Walton Velo ‘look’ by combining the club jersey with mainly black or white shorts and accessories (which most of us already have) – actually I’m told that white shorts are not acceptable in any circumstances, except social events!
For 2020, Stolen Goat have made a few subtle updates to the jersey design in line with some members feedback. We will now keep this design for at least the next 3 years, so that everyone can get the most use out of their kit.
Full details of the club kit and accessories can be found here, along with an order form for those who want to place their order now – for delivery in early September.
