The Friday Slackers were oddly quiet during the recent lockdown, hardly the time to start working hard! They finally made their 2020 return to visit a socially distanced VeloLife.
Hummingbird Cake, Lunch of Champions.
Business could best be described as “brisk” rather than manic, as was so often the case on pre-lockdown weekends. Perhaps this was just usual for a Friday, rather than being symptomatic of the “new normal”. Either way, I liked the relaxed atmosphere and more casual approach enforced through social distancing.
Plenty of bike hanging space, a one-way queuing system, so need to shout and a plentiful supply of cake. The catch? The benches are sufficiently cosy to bring new meaning to the term “social bubble”, still so long as you don’t have to share your Hummingbird cake then who cares!
Hopefully there will be many more Slackers rides through the summer months, I think a cake theme for these rides is likely.
